On Thursday, March 19, 2020, Joseph Ruben Morton, beloved son, brother, uncle, cousin, and nephew passed away at the age of 50.
Joseph was born on March 21, 1969 in Oakland, California, to Joseph and Ruby (Benally) Morton. Joseph was Kinłichii’nii and born for the Turtle Clan of the Absentee Shawnee. His maternal grandfather was Yé’ii Dine’é Tá’chiinii and his paternal grandfather was Scotch-Irish.
Joseph graduated from Page High School in 1988 and attended the University of Arizona in Tucson. Joseph worked at Safeway and was a beloved coworker and was a Union Steward. Joseph is survived by his parents Joseph and Ruby Morton and by his brother David (Jerrilene); and his youngest brother Jonathan (Jolene). He had three nieces and three nephews: Jasmyn, David, Cassidy, Autumn, Ethan, and Avery. He is preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents. A memorial service will be determined at a later date.
