The Page Police Department continues to see a pattern of poor driving in our community.

On Sept. 25 at approximately 7:43 a.m., a Page PD officer saw a vehicle speeding on Lake Powell Boulevard. The vehicle turned onto Sunrise Street near Page Middle School. While trying to stop the vehicle, the officer paced the vehicle at 58 mph in the school/residential area. The driver was an adult male from Page and stated he was traveling to work. He was arrested for excessive speed, which is a misdemeanor.

On Sept. 25, two vehicles were involved in a collision near Desert View Elementary School. The investigation concluded that the driver of the gray vehicle collided with the red pickup truck. Although there were no injuries, the driver of the gray vehicle was found to be at fault and cited for failure to control, which is a civil infraction. It was determined the driver of the pickup did not have a valid driver’s license, so they were cited for no driver’s license, which is also a civil infraction.

We want to congratulate Officer Nate Carlson for receiving the Coconino County Victim Witness Services Heart of Gold award for 2024. Per Victim Witness, "This award is given each year to remarkable community members and those involved in the criminal justice system who have demonstrated extraordinary compassion and dedication to working with victims of crime."

Carlson was nominated by Victim Advocate Penny Pennepacker. Chief Tim Lange said, "We are grateful to Officer Carlson for his service to our community and thank Penny Pennepacker for recognizing his compassion toward victims of crimes."

On Sept. 25, we kicked off the first meeting of our Citizens Academy. Nine people attended and were provided with an overview of each of our departments and the personnel who are assigned to each department.

Participants were also provided with a tour of the public safety building and were able to observe Lead Dispatcher Taylor Yazzie take a 911 call and then coordinate police and fire response.
