Page Police Department Report

A week of July 4 festivities kept Page police officers busy. In addition to providing traffic control and security for the many events the City of Page provided to our community, officers and detectives combined for the following statistics:

Total Calls for Service: 395

Total Traffic Stops: 80

Total Citations/Written Warnings: 26

Total DUIs: 6

Total Arrests: 25

Total Traffic Accidents: 7

"It should be noted that there were multiple complex investigations that were time-consuming and tied up employees for extended periods of time,” said Chief Tim Lange. “On another note, we had officers concentrating on traffic/DUI enforcement. We stopped numerous vehicles that we found were being operated by designated drivers. Although we would like to see zero DUI-related arrests, 6 arrests over the entire week are better than we've seen in previous enforcement efforts. For those of you who cared enough to be a designated driver, we say THANK YOU!!"

U.S. 89 Accidents

On July 11, Page Police and Fire responded to a two-vehicle accident with minor injuries at U.S. 89 and the North Access into Page. Investigation revealed a black sedan was traveling north on U.S. 89. A silver-colored SUV was traveling southbound on U. S. 89 when the driver made an abrupt left turn in front of the sedan, which caused the collision. A child was transported to the hospital for evaluation. The driver of the SUV was cited for failure to yield at an intersection.

On July 7 at approximately 7:12 p.m. Page Police and Page Fire personnel responded to a two-vehicle accident with multiple injuries on U.S. 89 at the Horseshoe Bend turnoff. One person was flown by Classic Lifeguard Helicopter with serious injuries. U.S. 89 was closed for several hours while officers investigated the crash. The investigation revealed a vehicle was exiting Horseshoe Bend and crossed into the path of a vehicle traveling south on U.S. 89, and the vehicles collided. Page PD reminds everyone to drive safely.
