The Sand Devils tennis team is now 1-1 after defeating the Kingman Bulldogs 8-1 last Tuesday on their home court.
Five of the six players handily won their singles matches. Ethan Omen won his sets 6-0, 6-1. Caleb Ober won 6-0, 6-1. Jahzeed Acosta went a perfect 6-0, 6-0. Jorden Varner went 6-2, 6-3. Drethan Espkin was defeated 8-3, and Tony Isaac won 8-3.
All three doubles teams also emerged victorious. Page’s number one and two players, Omen and Ober, defeated their rivals 8-0, the team of Acosta and Varner won 8-1, and Espkin and Isaac finished 8-7.
“We’re off to a good start at 1-1,” said Head Tennis Coach Jerod Viers. “They have been putting in hard work at practice. The team is well-conditioned and improving in their foundational skills. I am excited about the matches we have coming up this week.”
Their next match is today in Phoenix where they’ll compete against Bourgade Catholic. They host Scottsdale Prep on Friday at 4 p.m.
