Meet Maximus Reid

Sophomore – Cross-Country, Basketball, Track

Maximus Reid is not in a rush, but he’s always running.

“I love running,” he said.

Running is something he enjoys, and also something he takes very seriously.

Reid plays varsity on Page High School’s cross-country team, track team and basketball team. He was part of the cross-country team that took state this year and last year. Last year he finished in 149th place; this year he finished 15th, a vast improvement.

During track season he runs the 3200M, 1600M, 800M, 400M, the 4x800M relay and the 4x400 relay. Last year, he qualified for state in the 3200M and placed 18th.

On the basketball court, Reid is the Sand Devils shooting guard, and it’s something he’s very good at. Sand Devil opponents respect his shooting prowess and are forced to challenge him on the 3-point arc. Even when he doesn’t take the shot, his 3-point threat pulls an opponent out to guard him, which opens up the interior for his teammates battling in the paint.

Maximus began running when he was in the fourth grade as a way to spend time with his sister. His sister, Jade Reid – who is two years older – was already a serious runner and used to go on daily runs.

“It looked fun and I wanted to be a competitive runner, like she is,” he said.

Maximus said all those years running together have helped forge a strong bond between them.

“It’s brought us really close.”
