The Window Rock Fighting Scouts proved no challenge for the bigger, faster Sand Devils football team Friday night. The Sand Devils easily outmatched their opponents, defeating them 50-0.
Prior to Friday night’s game, the 0-3 Fighting Scouts had been outscored 178 to 6.
Senior quarterback Jacob Doyle led the way with three rushing touchdowns and one passing touchdown.
The Sand Devils offense scored on all but its final possession. Their defense also scored. The Window Rock quarterback fumbled the ball when he was sacked. The lost ball was scooped up by Skyler Claw and returned 60 yards for a touchdown. Window Rock’s quarterback was also injured during the play and didn’t return, which furthered the Fighting Scouts’ offensive woes.
The Sand Devils posted 340 total yards, 297 rushing and 43 passing, while their defense held Window Rock to just 61 yards total offense.
Jacob Doyle was one for two passing for 43 yards and one touchdown. He also ran six times for 33 yards and three touchdowns. Kele Meredith ran 11 times for 128 yards and one touchdown. Hayden Gracia ran 10 times for 107 yards and one touchdown. Dillon Anderson ran two times for 24 yards. Makaio Warner had one reception for 43 yards and a touchdown.
After a month on the road, the Sand Devils finally return home this Friday night, where they’ll host the 2-2 Holbrook Roadrunners.
“Holbrook has a big running back,” said head football coach Mitchell Stephens. “We’re going to focus on tackling.”
Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
