Need to learn how to write professional documents? How about getting some accounting know-how? Or, maybe learning how to play tennis is in the cards?
Beginning Aug. 28, Coconino Community College in Page is offering a wide variety of classes to help people land jobs, climb the ladder to better jobs or simply help people enjoy that work-life balance.
“Many folks in town who are already employed may not realize the potential benefit that one or two classes could have on their job advancement,” said Jim Hunter, director of CCC Page. “A little applied learning and some confidence can go a long way in helping employees climb the pay scale. Ask your employer what they need and go after it.”

BUILDING WORK SKILLS
CCC Page has more than 80 in-person and online classes for residents to choose to improve job skills. Among them are accounting, computer information Systems, business math, business communication, economics, college composition and more.
Additionally, there are offerings for people in the hotel and restaurant field in Page. A variety of classes are available to improve skills in the hospitality industry, including introduction to hospitality and hospitality information technology.

Anybody who registers for online classes may use the CCC Page computers from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday through Thursday to do their coursework.

1-CREDIT CLASSES
Finally, CCC Page is now offering 1-credit courses to help people with fitness and tennis skills.
“Cardio-fitness workout and beginning tennis are courses that will provide a fun, interactive way to exercise and learn skills that can be used all through life,” said Kay Leum, course instructor and director of special projects and grants at CCC Page. “I have taught fitness courses for more than 15 years and am thrilled to be able to offer these courses to the Page community.”
The new classes are:
- Cardio-Fitness Workout runs from Sept. 12 to Dec. 14, 12 to 12:50 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays at the CCC Page site. The class is a cardiovascular workout that combines aerobic exercise, free weights and resistance, balance and strength. All fitness levels welcome.
- Beginning Tennis runs from Sept. 12 to Nov. 21, 4 to 5:15 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays, at the city of Page Tennis Courts. The class offers an introduction to the fundamental skills of tennis. Skills include grip, forehand, backhand, serve, volley and special strokes. Tennis rules, etiquette and fitness are also included through singles and doubles play. The course is designed for students who have little or no knowledge of tennis, but all skill levels are welcome.
It is important to note that students of the 1-credit classes must apply for admission to CCC and be admitted, the last day to register for the courses is Sept. 11, and tuition payment or arrangements must be made at the time of registration.
