On May 7, 2023, the water level at Lake Powell was 3,530 feet above sea level (left), at which point Lone Rock in Glen Canyon National Recreation Area was still landlocked, as it has been for the past couple of years. On June 25, 2023, the water level was nearly 3,581 (right), allowing boaters to once again navigate around Lone Rock. The lake level had dropped to about 3,520 feet in mid-April due to long-standing drought conditions but has been mostly rising since then thanks to spring snowmelt from the upper Colorado River basin.
