Page’s new 10.8-mile Red Mesa Rim Trail opened to the public on July 22. The grand opening event on Saturday included a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 8 a.m., followed by a scavenger hunt until noon. Despite the heat, about 140 hikers and mountain bikers stopped by to check out the new trail system, about half of whom participated in the scavenger hunt. Participants who were able to get all nine stamps in the hunt were entered in a drawing for two mountain bikes and a $100 Visa gift card. The bicycles were won by Mike Woodcliffe and Andre Tsinnijinnie, while Chloe Marks scored the gift card.
