On Monday afternoon, National Park Service personnel and the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene of a cliff jumping accident at Lake Powell’s Anchovy Point.
According to NPS reports, 25-year-old Erick Kallestewa of Hotevilla, Arizona jumped off a 30-foot cliff into the water below. No accident occurred during the jump. Two witnesses accompanying Kallestewa stated that after entering the water he resurfaced and attempted to swim to shore but was unable to reach it due to high wind and wave conditions.
