Letter: What a great Fourth of July
City should be proud

Ada T. Hatch
I will always remember a song we sang at the eighth grade graduation. “What is America to me? A name, a map, a flag I see. A certain word, democracy, that is America to me.” This all was so true celebrating the 4th of July in Page.
We woke up in the morning to see American flags put up by the Boy Scouts at sunrise at many, many homes throughout our town.
Next we had a great parade.
Vehicles owned by Page, Greenhaven, Big Water, the grand marshal, old cars and tractors, motorcycles, several floats decorated with flags and colors of red, white and blue, the Dick Buck family showing the armed services the family has served in.
Marching Boy and Girl Scouts, etc. It was a perfect home-town parade.
The chamber did a wonderful job in planning activities in the park. Booths of handmade Indian jewelry, tie-dye shirts and scarves, sandpaintings, creative crafts, information.
Games, bounce toys, musical chairs, three-legged race, hula hoops. Great food and drinks sold and, of course, one of the best of all was the fire truck cooling us all down with sprayed water throughout the day.
The day ended with a wonderful display of fireworks. I hope some of our visitors from all over the world took part in some of these activities of how America celebrates our independence.
What a great day.
