PAGE – The newest addition to Page’s growing downtown district is Hot N Sweet Coffee and Donut Shop. It has the charm of an old fashion treat shop, yet modern in efficiency. Thursday marks Mark and Rebekah Self’s 90th day in business—and they’re consistently busy.
Watching Mark and Becky at work behind the counter shows they’ve got it down to a science. Becky is preparing a vanilla latte; Mark carries in a tray of freshly cooked chocolate between flipping burgers, all the while talking to the customers to make sure they’re happy. They are.
He said, “Jones Drugs was a place I went to. I used to go in there and get, for five cents, little sour candies. I remember that as a kid. I’ve got three kids myself, so I want people to come in, bring their kids and have a good experience – entertainment, good doughnuts, good breakfast, good lunch and great customer service.” The shop has Wi-Fi, TV with sports, the Movie Channel and the History Channel.
Hot N Sweet also wants to reward local honor roll students with a free doughnut. Mark said, “The kids can come in with their badge and we’ll have the newspaper to verify honor roll students. We want to give back to the community and do something cool.”
