Page high school wrestling coaches, Kyran Keisling and Matt Penrod, will be hosting their youth wrestling camp for the next two weeks. They’ll be joined this year by JV coach Alex Shockley and several high school wrestlers to prepare Page’s future wrestlers.
The purpose of the camp is to teach new wrestlers basic wrestling techniques, tumbling skills and the rules of the match, said Keisling.
“The main focus is for the kids to have fun on the mat, but we also want them to learn how to compete, how to be rough and tough and have good sportsmanship throughout,” said Keisling.
The camp is for kids from kindergarten to fifth grade.
Children from K-second grade will practice from 3:30 to 4:15 p.m. Students from third through fifth grade will practice from 4:30 to 5:15. The classes will be held in the wrestling room at the Page High School gym. Cost is $30 per student.
Classes will be held Monday through Thursday from Oct. 16-26.
If kids are gone for the first two days of fall break, they can begin on Wednesday, said Keisling.
