Page High School’s winter sports teams are preparing for the post-season as the regular season comes to an end this week.

She Devils

After a great showing at the sectional meet last Saturday, three She Devils qualified to go to state. They are Leah Reed, Ciauna Jones and Angel Clark. The state tournament – for both boys and girls teams – will be held Feb. 17-19 in Phoenix.

Boys Wrestling

Boys wrestling sectionals will be held this Saturday in Winslow. Head wrestling coach Kyran Keisling will take a full team to the tournament. “Everyone we’re taking has a shot at qualifying for state,” he said. Wrestlers have to finish in the top four to qualify for the state tournament.

JV Wrestling

The junior varsity wrestlers had several great performances at last weekend’s Pinnacle Invitational in Phoenix. Manni Green and Landon Mansker both placed first.  Hayden Hunter and Ian Yellowhair both placed second. Keithan Bennet, Richie Whiterock and Harrison Yellow all placed third.

Girls Basketball

The Lady Sand Devils lost to the Snowflake Lobos last Saturday 49-43. They are now 15-7 overall, 9-1 in the 3A North. They are ranked first in the 3A North and second in state. They played their last regular season game against Sedona on Feb. 8. It was a home game and also Senior Night. The Lady Sand Devils are expected to have a first-round bye and play their first post-season game on Feb. 18.

Boys Basketball

The Sand Devils lost to Snowflake 57-33 last Saturday. They are now 9-13 overall, 5-6 in their section. They played their last regular-season game against Sedona on Feb. 8. It was a home game and also Senior Night. They are currently ranked 25th in the state. Only the top 24 teams qualify for state. If the boys qualify for state, they’ll play their first game on Feb. 16.
