PAGE – After a three-month investigation into the death of 6-year-old Lariyah Davison, Page Police arrested the girl’s grandparents. The accused are 51-year-old James Lane and 47-year-old Victoria Bizardie of Page. The girl was living with Lane and Bizardie when the death occurred.

According to Page Police, the grandparents were booked into Coconino County Jail and charged with multiple felonies, including first-degree murder, child abuse, endangerment, tampering with physical evidence, possession of a deadly weapon in a drug offense, possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana for sale, transporting marijuana for sale, possession of dangerous drugs, possession of dangerous drugs for sale, transporting dangerous drugs for sale, possession of narcotic drugs, possession of narcotic drugs for sale, transporting narcotic drugs for sale, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Lane was also booked for possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited possessor.

Police said, “Davison died May 3, 2019, as a result of a fatal overdose of an illegal narcotic.” Because the investigation is now with the County Attorney’s Office, police could not reveal the type of drug responsible for the girl’s death.

According to court documents, the accused, James Henry Lane, has a long history of drug related arrests in multiple cities and states.

In May, after the girl’s death, Lane and Bizardie contacted the Chronicle. They wanted to tell their side of the story. The Chronicle agreed to the interview and setup a meeting time, but the grandparents didn’t come. The Chronicle received multiple calls and emails on their behalf, with several versions of the May 3 events, but could not verify the claims.
