Christmas Parade a big success

The parade featured 31 floats and hundreds of spectators.

Hundreds of spectators lined Lake Powell Boulevard last Saturday night, braving the chilly weather to view the Christmas Parade. It was the first Christmas parade that Page has had in several years and it was a great success on many levels, said Judy Franz, director for Chamber Page/Lake Powell, the organization that organized and promoted the parade.

The parade featured 31 entries, one of which was a helicopter from Classic Aviation which came down the street last, hovering 50 feet off the ground the length of the parade route.

Franz said she was happy with the number of floats they had, as well as the quality of the floats.

“I am extremely happy with the way everything turned out,” said Franz. “All the floats were great! I was very proud of Page. We had a great variety of floats and entries. Everybody brought something to the table.”

Greenehaven’s Irv Kanzler was the Grand Marshall. He also built and entered his own float, which featured a train and Christmas packages on one side, and a horse and sled on the other side.

Franz was also impressed by the number of people who came out to view the parade and support the efforts of those who had built a float. An estimated 300 to 400 people line the parade route.

“We had a ton of people who supported us on this,” said Franz. “I want to thank the community for coming out this year. Let’s make it even better next year.”

“It was great,” said Rhonda Reed-Bellar, one of the spectators, on Facebook. “A lot of work and effort. The parade added some Christmas spirit to our community.”

Antelope Point Marina took first place for their rendition of Santa and his sleigh. The sleigh was a decorated houseboat and the nine reindeer were riding jet skis.

Second place went to Fred’s Liquor with OSDI Services.

Third place was the McNutt Family.
