On behalf of the Page Police Department, I want to thank everyone who was involved with planning, coordinating, or working in some capacity on the 2024 Balloon Regatta. Putting on an event such as this takes a large team, most of whom worked long hours leading up to and during the event.
During this event, the Page Police Department is responsible for traffic, security, and overall public safety. I am thankful for all the dedicated individuals we have who worked as hard as they did to ensure the safety of our citizens. There are too many to list, but I want to thank City Manager Darren Coldwell and Page City Councilman Mike Farrow for their support leading up to and during the event.
Lastly, I want to thank the Navajo Police Department, the Coconino County Sheriff's Office, and Coconino County Emergency Management for sending us dedicated people who worked diligently alongside of us. These individuals helped us navigate our way through issues as they developed. During the event, I'm proud to say we had no major public safety issues, and that's a result of a combined effort by everyone who worked this event. We were honored to work with all of you and are grateful for our partnerships.
Sincerely,
Tim Lange
Page Police Chief
On Nov. 8, 2024 at approximately 11:41 a.m., officers were dispatched to the intersection of Poplar Street and North Navajo Drive in Page, Arizona for a report of a vehicle that fled the scene after hitting a juvenile on a bicycle. Upon arrival, EMS and the rider of the bicycle stated that they had no injuries. Investigation revealed that the bicyclist was traveling north on North Navajo Drive in front of Poplar Street. Suddenly, the front bumper of the suspect vehicle contacted the bicycle's back tire while the vehicle was turning right onto North Navajo Drive, causing the bicyclist to fall off the bicycle. The driver of the vehicle stopped and checked on the bicyclist, but then left the scene before officers arrived. A short time later, the driver returned and was cited.
Page PD reminds all drivers to slow down, be courteous, and be aware of bicycles, skateboards, and motorcycles.
