On Oct. 26, 2024 at approximately 10:29 p.m., Page EMS was dispatched to a campground in Page, AZ for a report of a 31-year-old male who was not breathing and turning blue. Officer Raphael Pellegrino was in the area and arrived immediately after the call was dispatched. Upon his arrival, Officer Pellegrino was contacted by a foreign national from the United Kingdom, who said her husband was not breathing and had no pulse. Officer Pellegrino contacted the victim and started administering CPR until Page Fire personnel arrived and took over CPR. The victim eventually began breathing and was transported to Page Hospital for treatment. Later in the evening, we learned the victim was stable and had been flown, via air ambulance, to a hospital for further treatment and evaluation.
Chief Tim Lange said, "Officer Pellegrino constantly demonstrates his compassion for others. He truly cares, and his swift actions most likely saved this person's life. Our officers are constantly doing great things, and this is another example of a member of our staff having a profound impact on the outcome of a call for service. This case will be reviewed, and Officer Pellegrino most likely will be nominated for a Lifesaving Award later in the year. Thank you for your service, Officer Pellegrino!!"
