Michael Alan Woods, aged 76, passed away on December 22, 2024. He was a beloved husband, father, Poppa and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Mike was born in Provo, UT and spent his formative years in Page, Arizona. Mike always thought of Page as his hometown and was in the second graduating class of Page High School. He went on to attend the University of Utah and later became a mechanical engineer for the National Park Service and then at Navajo Generating Station. Throughout his career, he was known for his hard work, dedication, and passion for helping others.
But more than anything, Mike was a devoted disciple of Jesus Christ. His greatest love was for his family, and he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was always there to offer guidance, support, and encouragement, no matter what challenges they faced. Mike was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and ministered in many capacities, including serving an 18-month mission to New Zealand with his sweetheart.
In his free time, Mike enjoyed mountain biking, camping, genealogy work, boating on Lake Powell and off-roading. Mike was always eager to share his knowledge and enthusiasm with others. Mike served as the mayor of Page and was on city council for many years.
Mike is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Lois Jean Woods (Burch), his children Leslie Tubman (Robert), Andrea Taylor (Zach), Cody Woods (JoEllen) and Ty Woods (Rebecca), and his 15 grandchildren.
Mike died unexpectedly doing exactly what he loved-- riding a mountain bike on the Page Rim Trail, where he has likely logged as many miles as anyone in the past 30 years.
A funeral service was held Saturday, December 28th at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1301 North Navajo, Page, AZ. A viewing will be held at 9:00 followed by a funeral service at 10:00.
