Hedwig Sophia Peter van de Riet Dunn
July 10, 1944 – December 24, 2024
With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Hedwig Sophia Peter van de Riet Dunn, a beloved wife, mother, and friend. Known for her radiant smile, calming presence, and unwavering positivity, Hedwig touched countless lives over her 80 years.
Born in Roermond, Netherlands, Hedwig’s adventurous spirit led her to America in her 20s. She began her journey in California before settling in Page, Arizona, with her husband, John Edward Dunn (Eddie), and their children. A cherished part of the Page community, she worked at the pharmacy, taught aerobics, and served as a physical therapy assistant at Page Hospital. Her warmth, charming accent, and dedication left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
Hedwig embraced life with grace and joy. After retiring to Phoenix, she and Eddie enjoyed traveling in their motorhome, visiting family, and spending time with dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her son, Robert Sweitzer, and her husband, Eddie. She is survived by her extended Dutch and Dunn families, as well as a wide circle of friends who will miss her dearly.
Per Hedwig’s wishes, no formal service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Barb’s Dog Rescue, a cause close to her heart, as it reflects the kindness her son Robbie extended on every trip to Mexico.
