If I had to sum up the community of Page in just two words, I would say Eugene Tucker.
Since moving to Page as a young boy, he was committed to serving this community in all manner of ways, as an EMT, fire captain, active in the Page Gun Club, RC Modeler’s Club and proprietor of Napa Auto Parts for forty plus years. Nobody knew more about auto parts than Eugene. He was incredibly generous with both his time and talent. If you were stranded needing help, Eugene would do his best to help you no matter the time of day or distance required. He was that way with just about everything, always willing to lend a helping hand. His many and varied hobbies also benefited Page. He organized tractor meets, always drove a tractor in holiday parades, and helped financially sponsor so many civic minded events. His wealth of knowledge about so many things, automotive, firearms aficionado, hunting, exploring the back country to name just a few benefited so many of us in so many ways. His two favorite roles were dad to sons Matt and Abe and “Papa” to his grandchildren Emma and Noah, children of Abe and Abe’s wife Fran. He is survived by his wife Sharon, son Matt, sisters Kathy Laverick (husband David), Barbara Metcalf, and Mike Ruffell, Abe & Matt’s best friend and figuratively speaking a third son. Sadly, his son Abraham and sister Nancy predeceased him. He also leaves behind grieving nephews, cousins, in-laws and so many friends in the Page community and afar. To paraphrase one of Eugene’s best friends, Bob Harris, Eugene Tucker was simply a very good man. He is sorely missed and will be forever carried in our hearts.
