Page Police Report

On Oct. 18, 2024 at approximately 7:17 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of 7th Avenue for a report a male individual had unlawfully entered an occupied residence. When officers arrived on scene, they learned the suspect had fled on foot. The investigation found that the occupant of the residence had been in a bedroom talking on the phone, when they heard noise coming from their living room. The occupant entered the living room and observed an adult male, whom he did not know, sitting in a chair next to the occupant's young child. The occupant told the person to get out of his house. The suspect apparently tried to grab the child, at which time the occupant struck him in the nose, which caused him to flee on foot. Sergeant Dylan Williams located blood on the ground outside the residence. Williams, along with Officers Tyler Benally and Brandon Callio, began searching the area for the suspect. Chief Tim Lange and Detective Ann Lange responded to assist with the investigation. A short time later, Detective Lange located the suspect near The Bowl. The suspect tried to elude the officers but was taken into custody between The Bowl and the Grand Canyon Brewery. The suspect had a bloody nose and was positively identified by the victim. He was booked into custody at the Coconino County Jail. This case is still under investigation.

Later in the shift at approximately 11:50 p.m., Sergeant Williams and Officer Benally were dispatched to a residence in the Lake Powell Mobile Home Village to investigate a report an adult male was trespassing and had assaulted the homeowner. When the officers arrived, they located and detained the suspect. The investigation revealed the suspect had knocked on the door of the residence and started arguing with the homeowner, whom the suspect knew and had previously had a disagreement with. The homeowner told the suspect multiple times to leave, but the suspect “shoulder checked” the victim, causing the victim to fall to the ground. The suspect then unlawfully entered the residence. When the victim told the suspect to leave the residence, the suspect struck the victim in the face. The suspect was placed under arrest and booked into the Coconino County Jail.

The Page Police Department reminds everyone to be aware of your surroundings, keep your homes and vehicles secured, and if someone is knocking on your door, verify who it is before opening it. Additionally, know where your children are at all times.

On Oct. 17, the Page Police Department hosted "Lantern Rescue," an organization that exists to liberate victims of human trafficking and sexual exploitation in our country. They work closely with law enforcement partners across the country and internationally to fulfill their mission.

Page PD and Coconino County Sheriff’s Office staff attended the training in an effort to enhance our abilities and strengthen our collaboration efforts while investigating crimes related to human smuggling.

If anyone wants to get involved or get better informed, go to lanternrescue.org.

On Oct. 15, and for the fourth year in a row, the United States officially observed Indigenous Peoples Day, which is a day to pause and celebrate the history and contributions of Native American tribal members across our country.

Chief Lange said, "We honor the personal and professional relationships we have with all of our tribal family, friends, and partners, but especially the Navajo Nation, which is part of the fabric of our community. The Page Police Department would not be the department it is without the contributions from all of our personnel, many of which are Native Americans."

Shown at work today are Dispatchers Joni Kee, Taylor Yazzie, Jackie Lyons and Shaunieka Fowler. We are forever grateful. Thank you!!
