Chamber salutes Mayor Diak on retirement

Posted

Dear Editor,

This letter is to share my wonderful experience and support that I received working together with our Mayor, Bill Diak, since May 2009. My liaison between my job with Great Lakes Airlines and the City of Page continued in 2014 with my position at the Chamber Page Lake Powell. Bill was my life-line in so many ways and assisted in so many situations. He was very instrumental in so many ways in our community. There were many crisis situations where he stood up and took command and didn’t stop till it was fixed. He worked side by side with so many entities, legislative people, senate people, county people and even into Utah when needed. Our water issue was such a huge concern and of course the pandemic. He looked for any avenue that could lead us to a positive result.

It isn’t often you find someone so committed to his citizens and town like Bill has been. He cares deeply and it shows. He was involved in every event I did for the Chamber of Commerce, always making a point to come and see us and help so often. He was always there for Page Chamber Street Fair to help with setup every year we have done it.

My wish going forward is our Mayors and Council will look at all the footprints he left, and there is a great path to follow. Stay involved, stay connected, stay committed and remember “you work for the City of Page and its citizens.” Bill was not an “agenda” mayor, which so many appreciated. That is the great legacy Mayor Bill Diak left us all.

Wishing you a wonderful retirement with Pat, and remember I still have you on speed dial.

Sincerely,

Judy Franz
