PAGE — The leadership at St. David’s Episcopal Church is excited to announce that by the grace of God and with the consent of God’s people, The Right Reverend Scott Hayashi, Eleventh Bishop of Utah, will ordain Kathalin Ree Walker to the Sacred Order of Priests in Christ’s one holy catholic and apostolic Church at 6 p.m., on Oct. 26,  at St. David’s Church.

Walker was born in Kansas City, Kansas, but grew up in Indiana, where she lived until moving to Page in 2003. She began studying theology while living in Indianapolis, at Christian Theological Seminary in 1998.

She transferred to St. Mary-of-the-Woods College later that same year and earned a Master of Arts in Pastoral Theology in 2002.

While living in Page, Walker has served St. David’s and the community in various capacities.

She was invited to join the board of directors of Page Regional Domestic Violence Services in 2006.

She volunteered in that position for six years, serving as board president for five years.

She also helped facilitate “Making Change,” an intervention program for domestic violence offenders.

In addition, she currently volunteers with the Circle of Page and the Salvation Army.

Since 2005, Walker has served the community as an Adult Probation Officer, a position she intends to hold for the foreseeable future.

During her years of preparation for the priesthood, she has trained members of St. David’s for lay ministry, led discussion groups, and helped plan ecumenical services for the larger community. As a licensed lay preacher, she has preached while leading worship services.

In April 2017, Walkerwas ordained as a deacon in the Episcopal Church and will continue to serve St. David’s after her ordination as a priest. All are welcome to attend Kathalin’s ordination and to celebrate the new priest at St. David’s.
