The Page Police department is investigating a threat made against a PUSD student that resulted in school-wide “soft” lockdown at all Page campuses on Friday afternoon.
Investigators said a student at Page High School had been receiving “threatening messages” from an individual outside of Page, who was going to follow through with the threats at lunchtime.
In a soft lockdown, doors to the schools are locked, with no one permitted in or out, but classes inside continue as normal.
The nature of the threats has not been released by the investigating agencies.
The Page Police Department, alongside the Coconino County Sheriff’s Department, Arizona Department of Public Safety, the Navajo Nation Police Department, National Park Service, and Arizona Game and Fish coordinated a response that resulted in the lockdown.
Students were released early at roughly 12:15 p.m. with a heavy police presence around the campuses.
As of Tuesday morning, law enforcement officials were reluctant to give further details, as the investigation is ongoing.
