Several players are still undefeated.

The Page Sand Devils wrestling team have had a very successful season so far, performing well as a team and individually.

Last Tuesday they hosted four schools in their first home meet of the season and easily defeated them all. They beat Chinle 59-12, Prescott 57-18, Blue Ridge 59-16 and Monument Valley 67-6.

The wrestling team traveled to St. George on Friday and Saturday to compete in the Thunder Holiday Duels. On Friday they defeated the All Star Team 46-36, Hurricane 39-29, Wayne 51-24, and Enterprise 46-36. They lost to Carbon 39-36.

On Saturday they defeated Kanab 42-33, Dixie 54-24 and Grand 48-30. They lost to Snow Canyon 36-35.

Head wrestling coach Kyran Keisling likes the performances he’s seeing in his wrestlers this year, and says several of his wrestlers have really upped their game.

They came into the season prepared, focused and determined.

Keisling has a lot of returning wrestlers and he’s happy to see them building on the success they built last year with some of them stepping into leadership roles.

Keisling says he likes what he’s seeing in many of his new wrestlers too.

A lot of that he attributes to the reputation the Sand Devils wrestling program has built over decades of excellence.

Keisling says several of his wrestlers have really upped their game.

“Myron Bryant is undefeated so far this year,” said Coach Keisling. “His performance has been outstanding. I’ve been very impressed.”

Bryant was injured last year and missed the entire season.

“I think he’s angry about that, and he’s wrestling like he’s trying to make up for his lost season,” said Coach Keisling. “It’s good to see him living up to what we expected him to be”

Coach Keisling says he’s also very happy with junior Carson Stansfield.

“He’s a surprise,” said Coach Keisling. “He decided he wanted to be a varsity player and he got tough. He just decided he’s not taking any guff from anyone.”
