The wrestling team looked very impressive last weekend as they hosted the 27th annual Sand Devils Classic. As a team they brought home the championship trophy, and ten individuals finished in the top six.
The Sand Devils were one of 23 teams from five states. They finished with 209 points. The second place team, Richfield High School (Utah), finished a distant second with 163 points, and Snow Canyon High School (Utah), finished third with 154 points.
Senior Kamron Whitewater brought home another championship in the 106 pound weight category, as well as the Cujo Award for outstanding lightweight wrestler.
Head wrestling coach Kyran Keisling was very proud of his team’s performance.
“I think the thing that made me the proudest was that they all showed up on time for the six a.m. weigh-in Saturday morning,” he said.
Coach Keisling, has no intention of relaxing as his team enters the final weeks of the regular season.
“I’m gonna push down the throttle,” he said. “I’m going to be very unpleasant to be around. Last weekend was just practice for what we’ve got to do now.”
