Ruth Kent, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, age 90, passed away in her home in Coppermine, Arizona on July 14, 2018.

Ruth Kent was born October 15, 1927 in Coppermine. Ruth was Kinłichíí’nii born for Kinyaa’áani. Her cheii was Bįįh bitoonii and her nálí was Táhbąąhí. Ruth was the eighth child, out of twelve, born to Keith and Faye Lane. She married Edward Kent when she was nineteen years old and, together, they had eleven children. Ruth and Edward were later sealed in the St. George Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

As a lifelong resident of Coppermine, Ruth kept sheep her entire life and believed in the importance of maintaining sheep as a means of providing for her family and others. She was devoted to her family and always made time to attend the birthday parties, graduations, and weddings of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. In raising her children, Ruth emphasized the importance of obtaining an education, knowing the gospel, and nurturing one’s family. Although her life consisted of many challenges, Ruth always found a way to overcome obstacles through her faith, church work, family, and kind heart.

Ruth exuded kindness, generosity, and love to all she met. Her greetings always began with a heartfelt Navajo greeting, followed a warm handshake and a strong openhearted hug. She will be greatly missed.
