Page High School hosted nine teams at the Spring Break Invitational track and field meet this past weekend.


The Sand Devils vied for bragging rights against top teams in the Division III Conference section of northern Arizona: Chinle Wildcats, Grand Canyon Phantoms, Greyhills Academy Knights, Many Farm Lobos, Monument Valley Mustangs, Piñon Eagles, Red Mesa Scorpions, Shonto Prepatory Bears, and the Tuba City Warriors.


Boys
The boys’ scores for the top three Sand Devil finishers at the Spring Break Invitational are as follows.
•    100-meter dash: Robert Smith in second (11.87 seconds); Giovanni Coulson in third (12.15); Brandon James in fifth (12.77).
•    200-meter dash: Robert Smith took first place (24.25); Giovanni Coulson finished with a close second (24.26); Brandon James took fifth (25.65).
•    400-meter dash: Kaipo Uejo in fourth (57.73); Gavin Nockideneh placed 10th (1:02.14); an Ikaika Uejo finished in 12th place (1:02.74).
•    800-meter run: Rex Martin placed fifth (2:16.18); Gavin Nockideneh placed 13th (2:29.45); and Keanu Chewing placed 15th (2:37.67).
•    1600-meter run: Bowen Martin placed first (4:37.96); Skyler Sandoval placed third (4:44.76); and Morgan Fowler placed fourth (4:49.79).
•    3200-meter run: Trent Holiday placed first (10:17.34); Colten Yazzie placed seventh (11:12.83); and Cody Slim (11:20.29).

The 4X400 meter relay team came in second place (4:04.89). The 4X800-meter relay team came in first (8:27.12).


•    High jump: Cambridge took second (5 feet and 8 inches); Giovanni Coulson took fourth place (5-2); and Kaipo Uejo took fifth (5-2).
•    Long jump: Robert Smith lande first (18-5); Brandon James placed fifth (16-9.5); and Giovanni Coulson placed sixth (16-6).
•    Discus throw: Kele Merideth placed third (102-2); Conner Begay placed fifth (96-10); and Micheal Wilmes placed eleventh (73-9)
•    Javelin throw: Morgan Fowler took fourth place (91-4) and Kele Meredith took sixth (84-7).
•    Shot Put throw: Conner Begay placed second (39-2); Micheal Wilmes placed fifth (33-0), and Kamiron Woody placed 29th (25-0).


Girls
The girls team was also successful, bringing in mostly top ten finishers in all events. The top three finishers for the Lady Sand Devils are as follows.


•    100-meter dash: Zhanna Edwards took first (13.24); Francine Keyonnie placed second (14.64); and Nicole Aquila took eighth (15.33).
•    200-meter dash: Zhanna Edwards dominated first place once again (26.96); Francine Keyonnie took second (29.68); and Melinda Calnimptewa placed sixth (31.68).
•    400-meter dash: Esailah Martinez took second (1:11.49); Nariah Curley placed fifth (1:15.33); and Kitana Day took eighth (1:18.57).
•    800-meter run: Nadya Begay placed third (2:46.85); Jaddah Whitehair placed fourth (2:50.49).
•    1600-meter run: Nahaniya Fowler placed seventh (6:31.14) and Amya Begay placed 13th (6:48.04).
•    3200-meter run had only Mariah Franklin, who finished in fourth place (13:21.28).

The 100-meter hurdles first place went to Abeliene George (18.98). The 4X800 meter relay race team took second place overall (11:33.03).


•    High jump: Raquel Rivard landed 4-3 in first place and Kcey Smith landed 4-2 in second place.
•    Long jump: Abeliene George took first jumping 14-1, taking first place; Raquel Rivard placed fourth, jumping 12-5.5; Nicole Aquila placed fifth, jumping 12-3.75.
•  The triple jump overall winner was Raquel Rivard with 29-2.5 in first place.
•    Discus throw: Mikaye Begay took third; Rebecca Wilson took sixth; and Valentina Tsotsie took 11th place.
•    Shot Put: Mikaye Begay took fifth; BreeAnn Daw took eighth; and Rebecca Wilson took 14th.


The Sand Devils have already dominated four meets on their schedule. This upcoming weekend they are traveling to Chandler, Arizona, to compete in the 79th Annual Nike Rotary Invitational, one of the largest and most prestigious meets in the country.


Teams from Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Illinois, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Utah, Wyoming, and British Columbia, Canada, are expected to be on the roster.
The meet starts at 8:30 a.m. at the Chandler High School track field.


The Page High School Lake Powell Invitational will take place March 30 starting at 8:30 a.m.
