PAGE – The Page Sports Complex was awarded Park of the Year.
Lynn Cormier on Jan. 13 was awarded an Award of Excellence for her hard work on local tournaments in 2020.
City Manager Darren Coldwell said, “It is because of Dwayne (Richard) and his crew’s commitment to the facility that Page was awarded this coveted award and Lynn’s attention to detail that makes every tournament a great experience for all that participate.”
The awards were presented by USA Softball of Utah, an affiliation of USA Softball, the national governing body of softball.
Coldwell said, “They are one of 68 associations in the United States. USA Softball of Utah covers the entire state and competes in tournaments in Arizona, Nevada, and California as well. The USA Softball youth program, also known as the Junior Olympic program, is among the nation’s largest youth sports organizations.”
Over 80,000 teams, 1.3 million players and 300,000 coaches participate in USA youth softball annually.
Coldwell said, “Sports tourism is a market that the city of Page has been focused on for over a year and this hard work has begun to pay off. Lynn and her crew have already booked 11 different tournaments for the 2021 year. Congratulations to Lynn and Dwayne.”
