On the evening of July 4, around 6 p.m. Arizona time, officers with the National Park Service and the Kane County Sheriff’s Dept. responded to reports of a man assaulting a woman at Wahweap near the Stateline boat ramp.
Park Service officers were the first to respond to the call. The assailant had already fled the scene when they arrived, said the report. NPS officers and officers with the Kane County Sheriff’s Dept. found the assailant a short time later at Swim Beach.
Officers arrested Gregory Aguero from Kaibeto, Ariz. for aggravated assault, simple assault and public intoxication. According to a report from the Kane County Sheriff’s office Aguero assaulted his girlfriend with a pipe or pipe-type object. The female suffered fractures to the face, ribs and sternum along with multiple broken teeth. She was transported to Flagstaff Medical Center by Classic Aviation.
Officers with the Kane County Sheriff’s office detained and arrested Aguero without incident and transported him to Kanab. He’s being held in the Kane County jail on $11,000 bail.
