Linda Kathleen Dhieux, mother, grandmother and beloved teacher, passed away on March 2 at the age of 73. Linda was born in Denver on July 2, 1943. Linda was the first child of John and Frances Gibbons. She was blessed with one sister, Catherine.
After graduating from high school as the president of the Pep Club, Linda continued on to college at Colorado University where she earned a degree in elementary education. Linda worked at the university library and preschool to put herself through college. While attending college, she met her husband of 49 years, Henry August Dhieux of Louisville, Colo. They were married at St. Louis Catholic Church in Louisville, Colo. on Aug. 6, 1966. Linda and Hank had two daughters, Michelle Louise and Joelle Julienne. After briefly living in Louisville, Linda and Hank moved their family to Coal Creek Canyon in the mountains of Colorado to raise their girls. Linda was a stay-at-home mom and enjoyed volunteering her talents in their small community.
In 1977, Linda and her family moved to Page, where she lived until 2015. Her first job after raising her daughters was working as the head librarian at the Page City Library. Linda was also active in the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, singing in the choir for 19 years alongside her good friend, Marie Cloutier. She taught and directed the Catechism program for four years and supervised the Bible Study. Linda was best known as a beloved teacher. She taught 2nd and 3rd grades for many years and was a reading interventionist for the last years of her teaching career. She team taught alongside her good friend, Evelyn Roberts, for a majority of her teaching career in Page.
Linda’s daughter, Michelle, married John Stringfellow of Page in May of 1987 and had three children: Mallorie Marie (25), Jacob Henry (20) and Megan Kaye (17). Her daughter, Joelle, married Kody Oizumi of Page in July of 1989 and had two daughters: Logan Michelle (18) and Payson Dawn (15).
Linda enjoyed reading, music and painting. She spent many hours creating beautiful pictures, mostly of landscapes and God’s beautiful creatures in oil and watercolor.
Linda was a loving mother, daughter, grandmother and friend. She will be remembered as a gifted educator and teacher to hundreds of children in Page. In the final years of her life, Linda endured many physical hardships and met those challenges with grace and faith in God.
A private Catholic mass was held for Linda in Gilbert at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church on March 7. She was surrounded by her daughters, son-in-laws and grandchildren. Linda’s positive attitude and humor carried her through her last days in Chandler, where she lived near her daughter Joelle and family. Always the teacher, Linda taught her family the power of nurturing your faith, having hope and enduring hardships.
She is and will always be loved and missed.
