Letter: Giving teens a good name

Volunteers made a difference

Posted

In this day and age, it is all we can do to get teenagers off the computer, or the couch or game system. So when a friend called me one day about a group of kids that were looking for some volunteer work, I said sure, I can use the help. Well I guess I didn’t really think it would happen, because I forgot about it.

Then last Thursday, my friend called back and reminded me that there was a group of kids coming to help the next morning. Timing was great, tons of things we needed help with, so I  put together a list and prepared for help. AND IT CAME!
A group of eight kids from the Church of Latter Day Saints showed up at my office and I put them to work. And for the next hour they worked hard to assist with the many tasks that I had assigned to them. It would have taken days for me to get all of that done and then there would still have been things left undone. Many hands make for light work.
I wish to thank each: Brenna Russell, Kelsey Knight, Tyrel B., Bowen Martin, Mandi White, Westley Robinson, Kennedy Laughter, Hughston Sullivan and their guides Elder and Sister Cotterell. And a special thank you to Jeff Knight for thinking of Cancer Outreach for this group to help.
Bless you each and every one for the wonderful job you did and the stress lifting amount of work that you accomplished. But be careful, your efforts could give teenagers a “good name.”
