Jake was born to Daniel Lee and Kathy (Christopher) Bishop on Sept. 29, 1980, in Carlsbad, New Mexico. He was raised a “Park Service brat” and enjoyed living in many places throughout the Southwest during his lifetime. The family moved from Carlsbad Caverns National Park to Dinosaur National Monument when Jake was 1 year old. Jake attended grade school in Vernal, Utah until his dad took a position at Glen Canyon National Recreation Area in 1990 and the family made the move to Page.
Jake made many friends during his time in Page. He played Little League and soccer in grade school and went on to play high school football and basketball. Jake graduated from Page High School in 1999.
Jake worked many jobs while in Page. From Safeway to the National Park Service, Jake never met a stranger. He moved his family to the Phoenix area in 2009 and last worked for Desert Banner Hospital.
Jake departed this life much too soon.
He is survived by his daughter, Makenzie; and sons, Daniel and Matthew; as well as his parents; brother, Justin (Kumi) Bishop; sister, Jena (Jeremy) Day; beloved nieces, Kristina, Katelynn and Vivian Day and Nikki Bishop; nephew, and fellow ginger, Jeremiah Day; grandmothers, Geraldine Christopher and Bell Bishop; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He also leaves behind many, many friends who loved him dearly.
Jake was preceded in death by his beloved Grandpa, Beauford “Beefy” Bishop; and Papa, Denman “Dink” Christopher.
A memorial service for Jake will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, at Faith Bible Chapel in Page, Arizona. A potluck will be served afterwards in the fellowship hall.
All friends are invited to attend and share memories of Jake with his family.
