Head-on accident leaves 2 in the hospital

Impacted early-morning traffic

Two people were injured during an early-morning vehicle accident last week on Lake Powell Boulevard near the Courtyard by Marriott.
Page Police Lt. Tim Lange reported the accident occurred just before 7:30 a.m. Thursday when a silver Mazda driven by Dillon Oberbeck of Page was traveling south on Lake Powell Boulevard from Highway 89. As Oberbeck approached Clubhouse Drive, his Mazda crossed the center line and into the northbound traffic.
At the same time, a 2017 Mazda SUV driven by Christopher Lundquist of Canoga Park, Calif. was driving north on Lake Powell Boulevard. The two vehicles collided head on, which caused severe front-end damage and caused air bags to deploy in both vehicles.
While Page police investigated at the scene and treated the people in the vehicles, the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office blocked traffic.
Oberbeck and a passenger from the SUV were transported by ambulance to Page Hospital where they were treated for injuries that are believed to be non-life threatening.
The Page Police Department is continuing to investigate the accident.
