What if losing weight with proper nutrition was offered to you in a tasty and fun way while including all essential keys for success; diet, exercise, family-like support, progress reports, money, fun, and actual results, would you try it? Why not, you have tried everything else to no avail.

While you ask yourself whether to believe it exists or not, let me introduce the newest business to open in Page: Desert Nutrition. Desert Nutrition just celebrated its official Grand Opening  last Saturday.

Desert Nutrition is owned by Melissa and Morissa Adikai, two sisters who began the cellular nutrition plan out of a medical need to improve their health. Only a few years ago each sister had their own concerns ranging from high cholesterol, acne, low weight, over weight, caffeine addiction, and just overall unhappiness about their self-image.

Melissa walked into a nutrition club in Salt Lake and was introduced to the all-natural meal replacement plan. She found it was easy, tasty and used Herbal Life products. Melissa did what most people on diets do, she gave it an honest try. First three days turned into 30 days then on to 90 days using the shakes and exercise. She saw the results she’d been searching for her whole life. Her weight improved and so did her skin, so much that people didn’t recognize her. Melissa was sold and jumped in full speed. She wants to open more clubs across the Navajo Nation to bring what she has learned to her people and help promote health awareness.

Morissa began her journey due to a warning from her doctor to change her diet because her cholesterol was unnaturally high for a 26 year old.  She knew her sister was doing a diet regimen and was experiencing a whole new life. She too jumped in full force. Her biggest problem to overcome was the caffeine addiction. She discovered the teas were enhanced with vitamins and gave her more energy than the caffeine ever could, plus she was helping her heart. She too became living proof the nutritional way works. Morissa wants you to be inspired by her story because she was able to empower herself to save not only her own life but yours as well.

Of course changes in environment and exercise had to be included to their new self-image. They also knew a lifelong regimen of shakes, smoothies and teas would eventually get expensive so they became distributors of Herbal Life to save money. However, Melissa has a background in construction and Morissa has a background in welding. They decided on a way to match the income they once had was to build a club of their own. Hence, the move to Page where they chose a space at the former Bashas’ strip mall. A location in the upswing with several new businesses and promising foot traffic. They built the nutrition club on their own with a shake, smoothie and tea bar, including a huge dance space for Zumba.

They sell shakes, smoothies and teas for $6.00, the price of a fast food meal and the drinks are chocked full of the essential vitamins people tend to ignore with bad dieting. The price of Zumba classes are also the same and includes a free shake, smoothie or tea. They will educate you on what is in the drinks or if you want a customized drink they will oblige. If you want to buy the nutrition plan to do on your own they will coach you through it, no problem.

Their agenda is a simple one: create a positive environment, promote female empowerment and bring health awareness to the area for both men and women. The number one goal is to have fun getting healthy.

While introducing themselves to the public with a soft opening in September, they were able to prove the cellular nutrition approach to a brave group of women and men. Since, they were able to add two new team members/distributors, Maybel Francis, who lost 14 pounds since September and Evinette Thomas who has lost nine pounds since joining in October.

Desert Nutrition holds monthly challenges where anybody participating in the regimen has a chance to win money or free meal replacement kits. During the Grand Opening celebration Marita Crank walked away with $120.00, the pot, for having the most results on the health plan.

Zumba classes are held daily at the club at 6 p.m. at 665 S. Lake Powell Blvd. For any Zumba fans out there the classes are positively reinvigorating and reinforces the diet plan.

Overall, Desert Nutrition is the real deal. They are a happy group of people and they radiate their positive attitudes throughout. I give them five stars.
