Curt M. Scheibel, better known as “Papa Bear,” of Page, Arizona, joined his lord and savior July 5, 2020. Curt was born in San Francisco, California, on Dec. 20, 1951. He spent his high school days involved in sports and cars.

At the age of 17, he joined the military to get away from an abusive family life. He spent four years in the U.S. Army, being a part of the 243rd Assault Support Helicopter team: Freight Train- Dong Ba Thin. Curt in the mid-1970s moved to Page, where he was a flagger and also a bartender until he got on with Salt River Project – Navajo Generating Station. He retired after 29.7 years and took a job with the Bureau of Reclamation and there retired at the age of 65.

Curt was well known around the community for his giving nature. He helped anyone and everyone he could. In the ‘80s he co-founded Toys for Tots here in Page, helping children around our community. He loved the bass, guitar, his toys, and his beautiful manicured yard. Curt was well-loved by many locals, family, extended family, and by many friends.

He is preceded in death by his father Austin Scheibel; mother Phyllis Scheibel; and brother Greg Scheibel.

He is survived by his daughters, Elize Scheibel-Crist (Jeffrey H Crist Jr.) and Andrea M Blevins (Christophe Blevins); his grandchildren, Aspen M Thomas (James Heremes), Cyan J Procyk, Kerstyn S Keith, Maxwell J Blevins; step-grandchildren, Alexandra Crist, Maxwell Crist, and Parker Crist; brother Craig Scheibel; sister Jann Scheibel; nieces and nephews; and many more brothers and sisters in the First Baptist Church.

Services were held July 25, 2020, 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Page. Visitation with family followed after.
