Lady Sand Devils advance to semifinals

The second-seeded Lady Sand Devils faced off against Tuba City Monday in the 3A state quarterfinals, easily defeating the Warriors 66-34.
The Sand Devils, who had a few stumbles earlier in the season, have now hit their stride going into state playoffs. They also defeated Snowflake 57-27 last Saturday, and Window Rock 73-51 the week before that.

Page boys fall one point short in state playoffs

A Hail Mary buzzer-beater cemented an unexpected end of the season for the Page High School boy's basketball team last weekend.
Losing 61,60 to the Ganado Hornets on Saturday in Chinle, the Sand Devils achingly ended their breakthrough season that included a 3A regional tournament title and an 18,9 record -- the team's best since 2004.

Page’s Skubal, Whitehorse named coach of the year

Both of Page High School's head basketball coaches -- Russ Skubal and Ryan Whitehorse -- were named Coach of the Year at the end of this year's regular season.
Coach of the Year is determined by the region's athletic directors who get together and present reasons why the various candidates should receive the honor.

Three Page wrestlers reach podium at state meet

The Sand Devils wrestling team sent nine wrestlers to the state finals last weekend and three of them -- Kamron Whitewater, Dante Gracia and Dakota Richardson -- returned home with some hardware.
